ImageCLEF will host this year for the first time a Robot Vision task. This task will address the problem of robot localization using visual
information. Specifically, we will ask participants to classify rooms on the basis of image sequences, captured by a perspective camera mounted on a robot. Participants will be given training data imaging a five rooms indoor environment under a fixed illumination condition and at a given time.
Validation data will consist of one/more image sequence(s), acquired 6 months later in the same environment.
The challenge is to build a recognition algorithm able to answer the question 'where are you?' ( I'm in the kitchen/in the bedroom/etc) when presented with image sequences of the previously seen indoor environment, or when presented with image sequences of rooms not imaged in the training and validation sequences.
Training and validation will be performed on a subset of the IDOL database (http://cogvis.nada.kth.se/IDOL/). More details on the tasks to be provided soon.
